architecture for distributed simulation

Build Powerful Simulations with Open-Standards Architecture

The PitchTM Infrastructure product family provides a robust and scalable architecture for distributed simulation based on open international standards such as HLA (IEEE 1516) and DIS (IEEE 1278). It enables simulators, and other types of systems, to connect and exchange data efficiently and securely using standard services APIs and protocols. By allowing systems from different providers to be combined, your integrated solution becomes flexible and can be adapted for specific requirements to support training, analysis, engineering, etc. By adhering to open standards, Pitch Infrastructure helps customers avoid proprietary frameworks and vendor lock-in, allowing them to take advantage of  existing standards-based components and adapt or develop new modeling and simulation services.

Key Components

Pitch pRTI

The core product of the Pitch Infrastructure family, with support for all HLA standards including the latest version; HLA4. It provides information exchange for any application domain, using the power of HLA’s flexible information models, known as Federation Object Models (FOMs). It offers all HLA services including synchronization of time, efficient
data distribution, and dynamic transfer of object ownership between simulation models. It also provides advanced monitoring and management capabilities through both graphical user interface and APIs.

Pitch Commander

Enables monitoring and control of distributed systems running on several computers. Using scripts, it makes the startup and execution of simulations more efficient and reduces downtime. It also allows for the discovery and restart of simulations that have issues and verifies the data flow between simulations. The system is extendable and adaptable through its plug-in architecture.

Pitch Booster

Facilitates running distributed simulations across Wide Area Networks, such as enterprise networks or the Internet. It increases throughput and fault tolerance, traverses firewalls while maintaining full network security, and offers certificate-based encryption.

Pitch DIS Adapter

Enables interoperability with systems using the DIS (IEEE 1278) standard. This allows for the creation of a backbone based on HLA while reusing existing islands of DIS systems, enabling a mix-and-match approach and gradual migration as budgets permit.

Pitch Media Streamer

Creates a backbone for video streams over HLA, integrating video and data into one well-managed system. It allows for the monitoring and control of the source and destination of media streams.

Pitch CDS Gateway

Adds support for secure cross-domain simulation for any application domain. It builds distributed simulation federations that connect different security domains while controlling the release of data based on policies. It also supports higher or lower assurance requirements using different types of software/hardware guards or firewalls.

Pitch KML Streamer

Creates a live link between KML viewers (such as Google Earth) and an HLA simulation. Each user that connects, locally or from a remote location, can view the status and position of entities like cars, aircrafts, ships, humans, etc.

Pitch Extender

Creates a bridge between two different HLA federations. It can be used to connect two different federations into one or to partition one federation into two. Pitch Extender allows you to select which data will be bridged between the federations, based upon the FOM on each side.
